image

Are you trying to cut down on caffeine? Have you thought about switching from coffee and soft drinks to tea, but aren’t sure what the different levels of caffeine are for the different types of tea? This primer will help you distinguish caffeinated teas from teas that don’t contain caffeine.

If you’re switching from drinking coffee, you maybe interested to learn an eight-ounce serving of coffee contains 150-200 milligrams of caffeine. You can use this scale to compare teas, which is presented from highest level of caffeine to lowest.

Black tea has the most caffeine in it, containing 60-90 milligrams of caffeine per eight-ounce serving. Black teas are the basis for Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, and you traditional orange pekoe teas. Most people drink it either with lemon or with milk and honey.

If you drink oolong tea, you’ll be taking in 50-75 milligrams of caffeine each time. You’ve probably drank this tea in an Asian restaurant. You drink it straight, with nothing added.

Every cup of green tea you drink contains between 35-70 milligrams of caffeine. You can find a variety of green teas, most of them combined with lemongrass, all of which are best served plain.

A Look At Easy Ways To Keep Yourself In Shape »

A lot of people face the problem that they are far too busy to go the the gym on a regular basis, and they translate this fact into the idea that they are far too busy to keep themselves in the shape they want to stay in; the simple truth, however, is that everyone has enough time to stay in good shape, as there are a number of very simple things you can do that – when combined with healthy eating habits – will keep you looking fit and trim.

Walk: Walking might not seem like much of a workout when you are doing it, but walking truly is one of the best workouts you can engage in; even though walking can take up quite a bit of time, you will find – when you start looking for opportunities to walk – that you actually have plenty, including during your lunch break, in the evening, or even just at work, taking the stairs instead of the elevator!

Pushups: Many adults dismiss pushups as something that will not be much help to them, because they are such a basic “workout,” but pushups really are one of the best workouts you can do for your upper body; throughout the day, get in the habit of dropping to the floor for a quick set up pushups, as this will help you look the way you want to look, and will get your blood flowing – which will make work that much easier!

Flexing: And believe it or not, one of the best ways to work out is by simply flexing; when you lift weights, you are essentially forcing your muscles to tighten up, which is the same thing you will accomplish by flexing – and even though you will not increase strength quite as quickly this way as you would from lifting weights, you will be surprised by just how effective this can be!

Make an effort to add these ideas to your regular days, and soon you will find that you are beginning to look a whole lot more like what you want to look like!

Exploring Three Great Ways To Prepare Chai Tea »

If you have thought it might be good for you to drink less coffee than you currently drink – finding an alternative that is healthier and not quite so packed with caffeine – or if tea is simply something you already enjoy drinking, one of the best teas to take a look at is chai; chai is a black tea (which means it has a stronger flavor and a bit more caffeine than green tea) that has a distinctive, full-bodied flavor that is loved in many parts of the world, and once you know how to prepare it yourself, you will be able to enjoy it right there in your home!

The standard way to enjoy chai is as plain old hot tea, and making your chai in this manner is really very simple: you will want too bring water to just under a boil, and then you will want to pour this water (about 8 ounces) over the teabag, allowing it to steep for about five minutes before you remove the teabag and enjoy (hint: if you want slightly stronger tea, dunk the teabag up and down in the water before removing).

@@ADSENSE@@.

But even though hot chai is a wonderful treat, another favorite is the “chai latte”; for this drink, you will want to bring the water to a full boil before you pour it over the teabag – and then, once you have prepared the tea (making sure to dunk the teabag up and down before removing, as the stronger flavor will be important), add a bit of milk and a dash of sugar to enhance the flavor of the chai.

Finally, iced chai is another favorite; you will want to make this in much the same way you would make hot chai, but double the strength of the tea (using two teabags per 8 ounces, instead of one). Once the tea is brewed and ready to go, stir in some sugar (if desired), then stash the tea in the refrigerator until it cools – at which point it can be served in glasses with ice for a cold, delicious treat!

How to Chase Away Dandruff Without Drying Out Your Hair

»

If you are having problems with dandruff, one of the main things this is an indication of is the fact that your scalp is dried out, and in order to fix this problem, you need to use shampoo that will keep your scalp from drying out; of course, the problem with this “solution” is that too much shampoo can cause your hair to dry out, which is just as bad as being stuck with dandruff! Washing your hair a couple times each week with a dandruff shampoo should solve the issue if you do not have an actual dandruff problem; if, on the other hand, you struggle to fight off dandruff on a regular basis, here are a few things you can consider doing to make the problem go away.

Of course, the first key to chasing dandruff away is for you to wash your hair frequently enough to make the dandruff go away, without washing so frequently that your hair dries out; this balance is different for every person, but you should have a pretty good idea of what this balance is for yourself.

Your scalp and hair will get conditioned to a particular shampoo when you use it on a regular basis, and the shampoo will therefore become less effective; try alternating between two different shampoos in order to avoid this problem, and this alone may be enough to make that dandruff go away for good.

@@AMAZONWIDGET;dandruff shampoo;3760931@@.

In order to follow each of the first two suggestions, you will need to make sure the dandruff shampoo you are using is strong enough to work when used only twice per week, and while this is the suggested usage for all dandruff shampoos, not all are strong enough to accomplish this for serious cases of dandruff; until you find the dandruff shampoo that works best for you, keep trying different ones!

You will no longer have to deal with the unsightly flakes or with the annoying itchy head when you follow these tips – as your dandruff problem will finally be cleared up for good!

Grilling for Healthy Eating All Year »

Healthy eating is a habit that has become more important than ever before. Eating out and enjoying fast food is a trend that became popular over many years. This is unhealthy to do on a consistent basis and that is the problem with the habit. These fast food restaurants did not have the health of their customers in mind at any point in time. Low prices and food that was quick to make was the only thing that these companies had in mind.

Now it seems as though the general public has opened their eyes to this fact. Eating healthier than they ever have is in the minds of many people. Making their products appear healthier has become a habit of many fast food establishments. Yet food that is made inside their own home is the healthiest food that consumers can make for themselves. Of all the cooking methods that are available to people at home, grilling their food is by far the healthiest.

The problem with grilling is its seasonality. People can go outside and use a grill only when the weather is nice enough. This is the reason that the George Foreman grill was invented. People can easily grill food insider their home at anytime of the year with the George Foreman grill and it’s design. A non-stick top on the grill gets its power from electricity and not traditional methods. With gas and charcoal left behind the cost of using this grill is very low. It also is much easier to clean than a traditional grill.

The design of the grill is meant to drip any unhealthy oils or fats to the front for collection. Being sloped at one end is how this is accomplished. There is not a better option around for healthy eating. For those that have made the commitment to eating better this year, the George Foreman grill can help them to accomplish it.

Which Fruits Are Best To Eat If I Am Trying To Lose Weight »

A lot of people naturally tie “eating healthy” together with “losing weight,” but one thing they may not know (or, at least, that they are shocked to realize!) is that fruits are high in both carbohydrates and sugars – and of course, carbs and fruits are two of the main things you will want to avoid if you are trying to lose weight; because of this, it is helpful for you to make sure you know which fruits are still good to eat if you are wanting to lose weight, and which fruits you should try to avoid.

For the most part, the more sweet a fruit is, the more sugar it will be carrying inside it (and the worse it is for you if you are trying to lose weight); this means that even as delicious as fruits such as pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, and mangos are – along with most other “tropical” fruits – they will be best left alone if “losing weight” is your primary goal.

The second category of fruits are the ones that are not exactly “great” for helping you lose weight, but are also not bad; these fruits include such favorites as apples, oranges, and cherries – but you should also realize that drinking the juice of these fruits is not the same as eating these fruits, and that the juice of these fruits will have a lot more carbs and sugars in them!

@@ADSENSE@@.

And in the final category, you will find the fruits that will not be a problem at all for you if you are trying to lose weight: berries pretty much dominate this category, as everything from blueberries to blackberries to raspberries to cranberries will be excellent fruits to focus on in your efforts to lose weight.

Of course, you should not think too hard about what fruits you are eating when you are trying to lose weight – after all, if you are even at the point of asking which fruits are best, you are far beyond most people who are still chomping on breads as they try to lose weight – so simply use these tips as a guideline, and remember that really, fruit is great for you no matter what!

Edamame the Snack of Healthy Champions »

Edamame is slowly becoming a household name. If you wish to find edamame, check the freezer section. Edamame must be taken out of the pod if you purchased them in the pod. This is really simple to do tough. Just squeese the beans out by placing pressure behind them with your thumb and first finger. Edamame is also know as green soybean.

Edamame is frequently used in Japanese cooking but it has gained favor in vegan and vegetarian cooking. The reason for this is edamame has gained favor is because it is an outstanding source of protein. Edamame is a complete protein.  This means that it contains all of the essential amino acids that our body’s requires. Vegetarians love this bean because it is a complete protein and there are not many vegetable sources of complete protein.

Furthermore Edamame is a great source of iron. One cup of edamame beans contains 17 grams of protein, twenty percent of our iron, and sixteen percent of our vitamin C. This bean, like other beans, are high in dietary fiber and is low on the glycemic index.

@@ADSENSE@@.

Although edamame is poisonous when raw, it is very easy to cook safely. There are a plethora of ways to cook edamame. You can boil or steam the beans for starters. Boilding edamame can make a great salty snack.  Add a generous amount of salt to the boiling water you use and you will impart a lot of flavor.

Remember to avoid edamame if you are allergic or sensitive to soy. Edamame is great though for people who have gluten allergies. Edamame is gluten free since it is a legume. You may be able to find dry roasted edamame if you look in the snack section of your local store.  You don’t even need to worry about cooking it when you eat it this way.

If you have never tried edamame I would highly recommend giving it a try. Many bigger markets are starting to carry froze bags of in shell edamame. Health food stores may also carry different options when it comes to edamame and soy prodcuts, so check them out too.

Do Low Fat Diets Really Work? »

Many of us are confused about the role of fat in our diets, wondering if it’s good or bad for us, which makes us question if low fat diets are effective or not. These low fat diet plans were based on eating as much as you wanted, as long as your diet was low in fat, under the assumption that people who subsisted on low fat foods (such as carrots and celery) would lose weight. Because many fats are linked to health problems, nutritionists demonized fats as a whole.

It makes sense that eating lower calorie foods would make you lose weight. The problem is that many high fat foods are good for you, since some types of fats are good, and many low fat foods are horrible for you, leading you to crave more. Take for example a Cosmapolitan, which contains no fat, but packs a lot of calories because it is high in sugar.

image

If everyone who followed a low fat diet ate fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats, it would be possible to see success. As long as you can eat low fat foods that won’t trigger an insulin rush (result of eating high sugar foods), you may find yourself limiting calories and losing weight. The problem is this: most people need some high fat foods to satisfy cravings. The other problem with most low fat diets is they ignore the need for calorie control, and too many calories–no matter what kind of calories–results in fuel stored as fat.

What is the healthiest wasy to diet? Eat a diet full of high protein, high fiber, and complex carbs, avoiding simple sugars and unhealthy fats such as trans fats and saturated fats. That means you’ll want to eat fatty fish like salmon and tuna, and high-fat foods like nuts, olive oil and avocados.

image

Make sure you choose a diet plan that is based on calorie control, exercise, and wise menu planning. If you do choose a low fat diet plan, stay away from high sugar items, and emphasize high protein and high fiber foods.

Keeping Off Weight You Lost »

There are plenty of people who spend time trying to lose weight, and while this can be a long process (packed full with a lot of trial and error), the payoff – that is, gaining the body you hoped to gain – is defnitely worth the effort expended; the problem with the successful completion of a weight loss program, however, is that it is sometimes as difficult to keep off the weight you lost as it was to lose it, unless you know what you can do in order to take this final, ever-important step in the weight loss process!

The biggest key to keeping off weight you have lost is to find a lifestyle that works for you; a lot of people use a “diet” to lose weight, but by its very nature, a diet is something that is intended to only be kept up with for a certain amount of time, whereas a lifestyle (that is, a certain way you will eat, and a certain way in which you will stay active) is something that you can continue to keep up with indefinitely!

Once you have settled on a lifestyle that you can comfortably stick with for as long as you want, you will want to also make sure you remain as active as you can; a lot of people think of “eating right” when they think of weight loss and lifestyle changes, but remaining active is just as important as eating healthy when you are wanting to keep off weight – so find activities that fit in well with your lifestyle, and that you will enjoy doing, and stick with them in the long run!

@@ADSENSE@@.

And a lot of people feel like they look great – like they have gotten their body looking the way they want it to look – until they stand on the scale and see that they weigh more than they want to; if you have found yourself getting discouraged, however, consider hiding the scale for a while, as it is actually a lot more important that you look the way you are happy with looking than it is that you weigh what you think you should weigh!

Keeping off weight is not always easy, even after you have gone through all the hard work to lose it – but when you remember these tips, keeping off this weight will at least be a whole lot easier.
